L3 Sports Massage Course

Course Overview

sports+massage+1This internationally recognised L3 sports massage course has been designed to prepare you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work in an unsupervised capacity as a sports massage practitioner, with non-pathological (non-injured) tissue.

The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements you need to work effectively and efficiently as a sports massage therapist. This includes anatomy and physiology, professional practice, an understanding of the principles of health and fitness and how to provide sports massage treatments.

As a level 3 sports massage therapist you will have the required skills and confidence to work safely and effectively on non-pathological tissue at events and in a clinic room setting; covering post-event, pre-event, intra-event and maintenance massage.

There are no prerequisite qualifications for this course.

Course Format

It is possible to complete this L3 sports massage course within 4 months. Choose between 6 weekend days (9.30am to 4.30pm), 7 Tuesdays (9.30am to 3pm), or 1 evening sessions (6pm to 9.30pm). There will be approximately 50 hours tutor contact time, up to 10 hours of home study a week, plus an observation day.

Much of your contact time with the tutor will focus on developing your practical techniques and confidence within the sports therapy setting. This will involve you treating a range of clients provided by York Holistic Training during the later stage of the course, and providing massage at a sporting event.

Class sizes are kept small, at a maximum of 8, to enable you to receive the one on one tuition necessary for you to get the most out of this course .

The majority of the theory content will be completed by you at home, but will be reinforced throughout your practical sessions.  You will also have access to YHT’s online learning videos to support your practical skill development at home.

Student numbers allowing, past and current students are also offered the opportunity to observe or act as clients in classes they have already taken in order to consolidate learning, free of charge.

Your tutor, Rachel Booth, has been a practicing sports massage therapist and lecturer for many years; specialising in NeuroKinetic muscle testing, related remedial treatment and exercise and pain management.  She is always either a phone call or an email away if clarification and guidance is required between tutor contact sessions.
