Massage Course

Course Overview

_wsb_230x157_massage1This internationally recognised massage course has been designed to prepare you for a career as a massage therapist/practitioner. As the Level 3 Diploma in Massage is a practitioner course, upon completion you will be able to gain insurance and work as a massage therapist.

Throughout the course you will: develop a wide range of practical massage techniques; gain an in depth understanding of the anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies and further your knowledge of the principles and practice of complementary therapies. You will also cover the basic principles of setting up and running a small business.

There is a new pre-requisite qualification for this course due to Covid-19, the VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID_19) for Complementary Therapies and Sports Massage. This simple, short, but essential course forms part of the pre-course work for the Level 3 Diploma in Massage at a cost of £50.  With the support of a related online presentation and teaching video, a workbook is completed by you at home in preparation for a multiple choice paper that you will sit on the first or second day of your Massage course.  This pre-requisite is now compulsory for any learner wanting to take the L3 Diploma in Massage with any training provider.

Course Format

This qualification can be completed within 3/4 months, on selected Mondays during the day (9.30am to 3pm). There will be approximately 30 hours tutor contact time, up to 7 hours of home study a week, plus an examination day.

Much of your contact time with the tutor will focus on developing your practical techniques and confidence within the complimentary therapy setting. The majority of the theory content will be completed by you at home, but will be reinforced throughout your practical sessions.

Your tutor will always only be a phone call or email away if clarification and guidance is required between tutor contact sessions.

Course Units

  • Business practice for complementary therapies
  • Principles and practice of complementary therapies
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies
  • Provide body massage for complementary therapies

Assessment for this level 3 massage course is largely ongoing in the form of a production of a portfolio of evidence. Practical assessments of your ability to provide body massage for complementary therapies will also take place, culminating in an examination day at the end of the course.

Your knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies will be assessed through the completion of 2 theory papers.

You will also be required to complete and document evidence for a minimum of 30 treatments.

Course Fees

The cost of this course is £1,250. A deposit of £250 is required on booking, followed by 4 monthly instalments of £250 (plus the £50 Infection Prevention course fee).

*If you already have the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology you may only need to complete 1 unit of this course at a reduced cost of £1,150  For students who have completed their L3 Diploma in Reflexology with York Holistic Training, the course fee for the 1 Unit is £1,100

The course fee covers all tuition, assessment and examination fees, together with your VTCT certificate issued at the end of the course. You will need to bring towels with you for practical work, along with the Course text book that you will need for both contact days and homework.  It is strongly advised that at some point towards the start of the course you purchase a portable massage couch in order for you to use when completing your home practice hours. During ‘Clinic days’ you may also be asked to bring this with you to class.

You may need to provide yourself with a client 2 or 3 times towards the end of the course for Assessment purposes (this can be anyone, including family members) – although YHT do endeavour to organise clients for you to treat during these sessions.
