L3 Massage Course

VTCT LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN MASSAGE (QCF)

Course Overview

_wsb_230x157_massage1This internationally recognised L3 massage course has been designed to prepare you for a career as a massage therapist/practitioner. As the Level 3 Diploma in Massage is a practitioner course, upon completion you will be able to gain insurance and work as a massage therapist.

Throughout the course you will: develop a wide range of practical massage techniques; gain an in depth understanding of the anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies and further your knowledge of the principles and practice of complementary therapies. You will also cover the basic principles of setting up and running a small business.

Prerequisites

There is a no formal pre-requisite for this course.  However, you do need to be able to work with Word, have a good grasp of the English language, and be able to work independently at home on both theoretical and practical elements of the course.

Accreditation and Certification
This course is accredited with VTCT, one of the UK’s leaders in vocational training. Hence, you can be assured that both your teacher and the course are regulated in order to ensure they meet the highest standards within the industry. Upon completion you will receive two separate qualifications; the VTCT Diploma in Massage and the VTCT L3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies.

Course Format

The L3 Massage Course can be completed within 3/4 months, on selected Mondays during the day (9.30am to 3/3.30pm). There will be approximately 30 hours tutor contact time, up to 7 hours of home study a week, plus an examination day.

Much of your contact time with the tutor will focus on developing your practical techniques and confidence within the complimentary therapy setting. The majority of the theory content will be completed by you at home, but will be reinforced throughout your practical sessions.

Your tutor will always only be a phone call or email away if clarification and guidance is required between tutor contact sessions.

Course Units

  • Business practice for complementary therapies
  • Principles and practice of complementary therapies
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies
  • Provide body massage for complementary therapies

Assessment

Assessment for this level 3 massage course is largely ongoing in the form of a production of a portfolio of evidence. Practical assessments of your ability to provide body massage for complementary therapies will also take place, culminating in an examination day at the end of the course.

Your knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies will be assessed through the completion of 2 multiple choice theory papers.

You will also be required to complete and document evidence for a minimum of 30 treatments, a number of which will be completed during contact days.

Course Fees

The cost of this course is £1,510. A deposit of £450 is required on booking, followed by 4 monthly instalments of £265 starting on the 1st of the month immediately proceeding your booking.

*If you already have the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology you may only need to complete 1 unit of this course at a reduced cost of £1,300.

The course fee covers all tuition, assessment and examination fees, together with your VTCT certificate issued at the end of the course, all equipment during face to face days (excluding towels) and lifetime access to YHT’s Massage Video Library.  A Massage text will be made available for you to use for the duration of the course.
It is strongly advised that at some point towards the start of the course you purchase a portable massage couch in order for you to use when completing your home practice hours.

You may need to bring in a client to work on towards the end of the course for Assessment purposes (this can be anyone, including family members) – although YHT do endeavour to organise these clients for you in order for your experience to be more industry specific, so this is often not necessary.

After your first instalment payment you will be given access to the course related Video library and emailed some theory work so you can begin learning straight away.
Many of our learners prefer to get the bulk of the anatomy and physiology theory work out of the way before the first contact day, allowing them more time to concentrate on the practical elements in between face to face days.
